Boundary wall and fencing cost calculator

A boundary wall is often the first thing built on a new plot and the first quote owners get wrong. It needs a foundation trench, a plinth band, pillars every 10–12 ft, brickwork, coping and plaster, plus the gate. Enter the plot sides and the wall height to get materials and a budget.

How it is calculated

Running length = perimeter for the chosen sides − gate width. Face area = length × height; bricks = face × thickness volume × 500 per m³ + 5% waste. Pillars every chosen spacing plus one. Foundation volume assumes a 2 ft wide, 2.5 ft deep trench. Cost = face area × all-in rate (foundation, pillars, brickwork, plaster, coping) + gate + wire. Pillars are in the rate; a plot with poor soil needs a deeper footing.

Worked example

30 × 60 ft plot, all four sides, 6 ft high 9-inch wall with a 12 ft gate: 168 ft of wall, 1,008 sq ft of face, about 6,600 bricks, 18 pillars, 24 m³ of foundation; ₹1.81 lakh wall + ₹54,000 gate = about ₹2.35 lakh.

Frequently asked questions

What does a boundary wall cost per running foot?

For a 6 ft high 9-inch wall with pillars, about ₹900–1,300 per running foot in NCR in 2026 including foundation and plaster; 4.5-inch walls with pillars cost 25–30% less.

How deep should the foundation be?

Typically 2–3 ft below ground on firm soil with a PCC bed and brick or RCC footing; filled or soft soil needs a deeper footing and a plinth beam.

Do I need permission for a boundary wall?

In authority areas (Noida, Greater Noida, YEIDA) boundary walls are part of the sanctioned plan; height is usually capped at 6–7 ft plus grille. Check your authority's building regulations.
