Land unit converter (bigha, biswa, gaj, acre, hectare, sq ft, sq m)
Bigha, biswa and katha are not national units: a pucca bigha in western Uttar Pradesh is 3,025 sq yd (27,225 sq ft), an eastern UP or Bihar bigha is close to 27,220 sq ft, West Bengal's is 14,400 sq ft and Himachal's only 8,100 sq ft. This converter lets you pick the regional definition explicitly instead of assuming one number.

How it is calculated
Every unit is first converted to square feet using the regional definition you select, then to the target unit: target = quantity × sq ft per source unit ÷ sq ft per target unit. 1 sq yd (gaj) = 9 sq ft, 1 sq m = 10.7639 sq ft, 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft, 1 hectare = 107,639 sq ft. Bigha values used: Western UP pucca 27,225; Eastern UP and Bihar 27,220; Rajasthan pucca 27,225 and kachha 17,424; Haryana 27,225; West Bengal and Assam 14,400; MP 12,000; Himachal 8,100; Uttarakhand 6,804; Gujarat 17,424. Biswa is one-twentieth of the local bigha.
Worked example
A seller in Bisrakh (Greater Noida West) quotes 2.5 bigha. Western UP pucca bigha: 2.5 × 27,225 = 68,063 sq ft = 7,563 gaj = 1.56 acre. The same "2.5 bigha" in Himachal would be only 20,250 sq ft, which is why the state matters.
