Classical vastu assigns each function a preferred direction: kitchen in the south-east (agni), master bedroom in the south-west, pooja in the north-east, entrance in north or east. Flats rarely match every rule. This scorecard weighs the rooms that matter most and shows where a remedy is usually suggested, as a cultural reference, not a guarantee of anything.

How it is calculated
Each room is weighted (kitchen 18, entrance 15, master bedroom 15, pooja 14, living 10, bathroom 8, second bedroom 6, store 6, water boring 8). Full points for the classical preferred direction, 60% for an acceptable one, none otherwise; the total is the score out of 100. Rules follow common Vastu Shastra guidance (Brihat Samhita tradition) as popularly applied to flats; schools differ, and this is a cultural reference, not a prediction.
Worked example
Entrance east, kitchen south-east, master south-west, pooja north-east, living north, bathroom north-west, kids' room west, store south-west scores 100. Move the kitchen to the north-east and the master bedroom to the north-east and it drops to about 65, with remedies suggested for both.

Which direction is best for the kitchen as per vastu?
South-east, the agni corner; north-west is the usual second choice. A north-east kitchen is the one most often flagged.
Which direction should the main door face?
North, east or north-east are preferred; west and north-west are acceptable; south-west entrances are the ones most vastu consultants ask to remedy.
Does vastu affect property price?
In NCR some buyers pay a premium of a few percent for east- or north-facing, vastu-compliant layouts and discount south-west entrances; it is a demand factor, not a structural one.
